The most potent variation of the AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine, which was launched in 2005, powers the new Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG. Similar to the high-perforᴍᴀɴce S 63 AMG and CL 63 AMG, the Roadster’s cutting-edge eight-cylinder powerplant generates 386 kW/525 horsepower at 6800 rpm and 630 Newton meters of maximum torque. Due to its huge displacement of 6208 cubic centimeters, this entirely internal AMG product produces almost 20% more torque than comparable naturally aspirated engines in this perforᴍᴀɴce class.
Uɴɪqᴜᴇ among its kind, the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine combines a fast-revving design with a huge displacement to give the best of both worlds: thrilling liveliness with great torque at low engine speeds. The SL 63 AMG’s driver can sense the engine’s unmistakably sporty nature in all engine speed ranges thanks to its outstanding agility and dynamic reactivity. The AMG V8 has the highest crankshaft torque of any naturally aspirated engine in its output and displacement range, delivering 500 Newton meters at 2000 rpm and 630 Newton meters at 5200 rpm. In other words, the AMG eight-cylinder engine guarantees powerful acceleration, rapid intermediate sprints, and the highest level of pure driving pleasure.
Thanks to its aggressive AMG exhaust note, which was created after a lengthy series of testing, the eight-cylinder unit from Affalterbach gives the thrill of a naturally-aspirated, high-revving V8 engine in unmistakably audible and tangible form at low, medium, and high engine speeds. The SL 63 AMG has a top speed of 250 kilometers per hour and goes from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.6 seconds.
The Mercedes-Benz lineup is about to transition away from the V-8 engine. Production plans and orders for the impacted models have been temporarily suspended. All 2022 GLE, GLS, and GLS Maybach automobiles that were originally ordered with V-8 engines, as well as all AMG versions, are impacted. The only cars unaffected by this change are the S-Class and Maybach S-Class, both of which will have a V-8 engine available in the US starting in 2022.
AMG C 63 or 63 S, AMG E 63 S, AMG GT, AMG GLC 63, AMG GLE 63, GLS 580, AMG GLS 63, Maybach GLS 600, or G-Class SUV won’t be available in 2022 as a result. According to the dealer, Mercedes-Benz USA will continue to place orders for the G550 and G63 AMG models through the end of the production cycle in December. The dealer update adds, “Please take note that this MY21 G-Class volume will be the only volume of G-Class until further notice. McGregor steadfastly declined to identify whether chips, turbochargers, or other parts were to blame for the supply chain issues.
